Nipawin's Winter Lights Celebration
Judging Day Thursday, December 9, 2004

Nipawin is quickly gaining a reputation as one of the most beautiful towns in Canada for all seasons. For the third year, Nipawin is competing in the "Winter Lights Celebrations," the sister competition to "Communities in Bloom." Winter Lights is a national beauty pageant for communities. The communities are judged on three criteria; festive celebrations, winter pleasures, and visual presentation. Nipawin won the national competition in 2002 for its population category.

With the Parade of Lights, our famous community spirit, and the fantastic light displays by individual residents, Nipawin has a great chance of regaining the national title. This year's judges are Dawn Falls and Lee Rozon. The judges will tour the Honeywood Candle Factory, the Love Barn, Vista Point, Nipawin Bible Institute, Town Office, residential areas, local schools, and the Regional Park. The highlights of their tour will be the Parade of Lights and a sleigh ride and bonfire in Central Park. By all accounts, Nipawin will put in an excellent showing. The results of the competition will be announced at the WinterLights Celebrations Symposium and Awards Ceremony, which will be held at the CN Tower in Toronto, on March 11-12, 2005. Good luck Nipawin!
