Nipawin in the winter is just as active and popular as it is in the summer. Cross country skiing is a very popular sport as is downhill skiing with ski trails and hills located in the Nipawin Regional Park. Wapiti Ski Hill is a popular downhill resort located 40 kilometres to the West.
Snowmobiling is an active winter sport as well. 250 miles of trail are groomed and signed each winter. Special events such as the Peace 100 Snowmobile Rally attract 300+ riders annually.
Nipawin Centennial and Jubilee Arena Complex provides artificial ice and is the scene of many hockey, ringette, speed skating and figure skating functions during the winter months. In summer the arena is used for other programs. Two outdoor ice arenas provide additional skating facilities.
Nipawin also has an excellent curling facility and hosts world-renowned tournaments as well as local leagues and school classes. Curling has been a part of Nipawin since the beginning and it is only fitting that it now takes centre stage as a centrepiece event with the Nipawin Evergreen Cash Spiel where curlers from all over the world come to compete.
