Mayor & Council

On behalf of the citizens of Nipawin, it is my pleasure to welcome you to the “Nipawin.com Network” – The Official Website for Nipawin, Tobin and Codette Lakes Destination Area.

When one considers the fact that we live on two beautiful lakes in the parkland of Saskatchewan, the employment and business opportunities that exist, the strong retail and service sector, our excellent transportation connections and the optimism for the future combined with the drive to embrace the technology available, I feel confident that this site will encourage you to come and see for yourself what we have to offer.

Nipawin is entering into a further era of growth, opportunity, and prosperity thanks to a number of exciting new enterprises in the area. Nipawin is the closest major community to the Fort à la Corne kimberlite field, one of the largest diamond-producing geological bodies in the world. Nipawin has the prospect of becoming the hub of activity in the new diamond industry in northeast Saskatchewan. Nipawin is also becoming a center for technology and innovation. The Nipawin Biomass Ethanol Project has been gaining international attention as a promising new enterprise in the alternative fuel industry. This project is leading the way in a cluster of bio-related industries in the Nipawin area. Nipawin is a community entering the future with promise and potential.

We are a full service community with a top education system, growing post-secondary facilities, full service health care and district hospital. Our recreation programing embraces young and old alike, thus adding to our quality of life. Plus, Nipawin is well known for the best road infrastructure in Saskatchewan.

I look forward to working with all of my colleagues on Council to accelerate our growth and continue to build a safe and prosperous community of opportunity for those who live, work, invest, and play here.

Lawrence Rospad

Mayor of Nipawin
