Recreation Facilities & Programs


Nipawin Parks

 The parks and green areas of Nipawin accumulate to 12% of the total area of Nipawin.  There are a total of 9 parks with many recreational activities available.

 

East Pleasantview Park

The park is located on the corner of 9th Avenue west and Centre Street.  It is .62-Hectres of lush open space with a creative playground and an outdoor ice rink.  The East Pleasantview Service Club conveniently located at the park operates the ice rink.

 

Royal Purple Park

This 2.8- Hectare, open space located on Watson Crescent allows for recreation on the toboggan hill as well as a creative play structure.

 

Montgomery Park

Gaining its namesake from its location on Montgomery Drive, this 0.33-Hectare park is a passive park area with a creative play structure.

 

Kinsmen Pinedale Park

The .8-Hectare Park is located on 4th Street North and Pine Avenue.  It houses the Kinsmen Service Club who operates the Pinedale Ice Rink situated on the park.

 

Skateboard Park

The Park is set in the Centennial Arena Parking Lot.  Equipment is available during the set up from May until October.

 

Gordon Subdivision Park

Located in the Gordon Subdivision of Nipawin, it is situated on Queen’s Dive and Princess Street.  The park is .57-Hectares of open space with a traditional play structure situation in it.

 

Kiteley Park

The park has a .25-Hectare area and is situated on the corner of 1st Street West and Maple Road West.  There are both creative and traditional play structures available in this open space.

 

Central Park

An approximately 19-Hectar area of land, this is the main and most functionally used park.  Central Park is the site annual exhibition with a racetrack and a grand stand area.  The two indoor arenas and outdoor swimming pool provide a chance to participate in sports or take a swim on a hot summer day.  There is also Legion horseshoe pits and the Central Park Elementary school play equipment.  For the exercise enthusiast, the park contains a 1-km walking/bike loop trail.

 

Elks Millenium Youth Park

This park is part of the new Coventry Crescent subdivision.  It is north of the Elks Park and contains a creative play structure.

 

 

Facilities

 

Nipawin Evergreen Centre/ Evergreen Golf Club

There is a six sheet curling rink in this centre with a 500 person capacity hall.  There are also meeting rooms, catering service, lounge and coffee shop. There are 18 holes of green grass, a driving range and a practice putting green are all situated on Evergreen Golf Club, one of Canada’s Top public courses.

 

Irene Manley Pool

The outdoor swimming pool is located in Central Park and operates from long weekend in May to the end of August.  There are two heated pools: one large pool and one tot pool.  The area also includes change rooms, sun bathing areas, and patio lounging furniture.  Swimming lessons, water polo, speed swim club and various swimming sports are offered during the summer months.

 

Fitness Centres

Bodies by Choice has a fitness gym and a variety of fitness equipment.  There are also gymnasiums at the two elementary schools, high school and Bible Institute.  The Nipawin School of Dance located on 1st Street West can offer a different style of fitness.

 

Rinks and Arenas

The biggest arena in Nipawin, the Centennial Arena, contains artificial ice and 1200 seating capacity.  The season runs from mid-August to mid-March/early April. The smaller of the two arenas, the Jubilee, still hosts a total of 300 seating capacity.  It has artificial ice and the season runs from Nov 1st to mid-March.  The two outdoor rinks, East Pleasantview and Pinedale offer public skating, shinny, and rentals.  For Arena Schedules Click Here

 

Twin Lakes Trail Blazers Snowmobile Trails

They host 300 km of well-groomed, well-marked trails around Nipawin area.  There is a safe snowmobile crossing via the Nipawin Hydro Dam that was completed in 2004.  Nipawin was voted by SnoRiderWest Magazine as the 2004 favourite snowmobile destination in Sask.

 

Nipawin Bowling Alley

A.J. Bowl is Nipawin’s 5-pin bowling alley, they also offer glow bowling.

 

Skateboard Park

The skateboard park, located next door to the arenas hosts a variety of equipment.  It is set up from May to October in the Centennial Arena Parking Lot.

 

Nipawin Oasis Community Centre

The Nipawin Oasis serves the needs of target group populations in the community.  They offer volunteer programs and activities such as social/recreational activities, crafts, exercises, special friend programs, nutrition programs and fund-raising events.

 

PlayField

The field is located in Elks Park, just east of L.P Miller High School.  It contains Bantam and Midget red shale baseball diamonds, a regulation size soccer pitch and a mini-soccer pitch.

 

Football Field/Tennis Courts

The football field and tennis courts for the town are located on the grounds of L.P Miller High School.  The tennis courts are asphalt regulation size courts.

 

Ball Diamonds

Three Diamonds are located in Central Park, Rotary PeeWee Baseball Diamond, Louis Begin Mosquito Baseball Diamond and Baseball/Softball Diamond.  Two fastball diamonds in total are located at the Nipawin & District Regional Park.  The diamonds located at each of the elementary schools are used for both minor baseball and softball.  There are four diamonds located east of Kingfisher Inn on 10th Avenue, and are used for Slo- Pitch.
