Business License

For the advantage of the Nipawin business community, there is no business tax within the Town of Nipawin, RM of Nipawin or RM of Torch River. The Town of Nipawin requires anyone carrying on a business in Nipawin to have a business license. The fee for this license is $50.00.

There are a few regulations regarding business licenses included in Bylaw No. 717/97:

• The license shall be for one (1) year from January 1st to December 31st.
• Licenses must be renewed annually in January.
• Businesses commencing on or after September 1st shall pay one-half of the annual fee.
• Businesses that discontinue prior to May 1st shall be entitled to a refund of one-half of the annual fee paid.
• A person must notify the Town when:
  • a business is discontinued
  • the location or nature of the business is changing
  • the business is being taken over by another person
• License must be displayed in a prominent place at the place of business
• License fees are due fourteen (14) days after the date of notice.

General License

The Town of Nipawin requires anyone carrying on a business in Nipawin to have a general license. Fees for each type of business are as follows:

Ambulance Operator Appraiser Auctioneer Auction Sale Auto Repair Bill Poster Bookkeeper Building Mover Buyer Canvasser Cleaning/Janitorial Service & Exterminators Circus, etc. Coin-operated Vending & Amusement Machines Contractor : Employing Subs All Others Drayman: Ice Cream bicycles Motor Vehicles - Fuel Dealers Mobile Canteen - Confection Vendor Other Driving Instructors Farmer’s Market Furriers and Drycleaners Garden Tilling Snowplowing Hairdresser Home Occupation Hypnotist, etc. Income Tax Consultant Kindergartens, Nursery Schools, Day Nurseries Land Surveyor Landscape Gardener Musical Instrument Tuner Music Teacher Nipawin Agricultural Society Photographer Public Hall Real Estate Agent Taxi-Cab Operator T.V. & Appliance Repairman Transient Trader Subject to any other act, the sale of fish or other seafood from the vendor’s own raising or catching. Sale of handicrafts, trinkets, jewellery, paintings, and things of like nature produced by the vendor’s own hand.
