Tobin Lake is one of Saskatchewan's most popular fishing spots. Angler success is high and has brought many fishermen back time and time again. Rated as the best walleye fishing in North America, catches reached 18.06 lbs in 1997, live released (Saskatchewan record).
The Nipawin & District Regional Park is situated on the Saskatchewan River portion of Tobin Lake providing easy access to spectacular fishing with modern boat launch services as well as rentals, fish filleting, bait, fuel, and outfitting services on-site.
The Nipawin Northern Pike Festival
is an annual event where fishermen can win $55,000.00 in tagged fish, including a boat and motor package valued at over $20,000.00 and one $5000.00 pike. Two thousand fishermen participate annually in this thirty year old event.
The Saskatchewan Premier's Walleye Cup
, an international fishing tournament, was first held in August of 1988. Based in the park, this annual event hosts fishermen from Canada and the USA who compete for over $60,000.00 in prizes.
The Vanity Cup
began in 1994 with a prize payoff of over $100,000.00 yearly. Run from both the park and the Evergreen Centre
, the tournament draws in competitors from all over North America.
